Jamie Howard & Jennifer Howell

Age Category: Young Adult, New Adult, Adult

Genre: Fantasy, Horror

MSWL: Team J How is seeking Fantasy/Horror aged YA and up. We gravitate toward darker themes but wouldn't say no to a fluffy one with strong voice. Our interests include retellings, especially if it’s of something unexpected, and genre-blurring is always great. Atmospheric, character-rich stories with morally gray casts or antiheroes thrill us, and if you throw in a villain romance (or any romance, especially if the love interest is as dysfunctional as Cardan) or setting as a character you might make us swoon. We’d love a book in the vein of Maggie Stiefvater, Zoraida Cordova, Tamsyn Muir, S. A. Chakraborty, Kylie Lee Baker, or Ginny Meyers Sain. No rape, on-page child death or abuse, or dog harm.

Jamie Howard is a contracts and pricing manager by day, author by night, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art. When she’s not tapping away at the keyboard or capturing the world through her trusty Canon, you can find her binge-watching her favorite TV shows, devouring books, and perfecting her gaming skills. She lives with her husband and four children in New Jersey, and is almost always awake early enough to see the sun rise, even on the weekends.

Jamie is the author of Until We Break, Until It’s Right, All the Ways You Saved Me, The Feeling of Forever, and The Way Back to Us, and was a longtime Pitch Wars mentor, including of NYT Bestseller SERPENT & DOVE by Shelby Mahurin.

Jennifer Howell is an author of young adult speculative fiction represented by Claire Friedman of Inkwell Management. Her book PERFECT MONSTERS is an eerie YA spec thriller retelling of Dorian Gray from the POV of his stalker, currently in final edits before submission. She leads a 50-strong group of craft-obsessed writers and does not sleep because why sleep when coffee and words exist.
